b. 1991, Tehran · Lives and works in Gent, Belgium
Yasaman Nozari is a painter and writer based in Gent, Belgium. Her practice moves through layering, masking, and fragmentation, methods shaped by living inside a reality where memory, politics, and daily life are constantly rewritten or hidden. She works in series, reusing materials across canvases so that forms migrate and return altered, and the surface accumulates time rather than resolving into a final image. Central to her process is masking vinyl, reused until it loses adhesion, carrying residue and marks from one painting into the next. Her studio functions as an internal archive, where fragments drawn from news imagery, earlier works, and collage circulate and are continually reactivated.
